Stone Town first, then the north coast for reef and beach, and finally the quieter east coast for a different Zanzibar atmosphere entirely.
Most visitors see Zanzibar primarily through its beaches. This journey is designed for guests who want the island in full: the UNESCO old town with its layered Arab, Portuguese, and Swahili history; the interior spice farms that gave the island its original commercial identity; and two different coastlines with contrasting characters.
Three nights in Stone Town is unusual for a tourist itinerary but correct for experiencing the city fully. The mornings are different from the evenings. The back alleys of the north quarter feel different from the waterfront at Forodhani. By the third day, you stop navigating and start inhabiting the place.
The itinerary then moves to the north coast for reef access and reliable swimming, and ends on the quieter east coast, tidal, remote, and completely different in atmosphere from anywhere else on the island. Zanzibar is not one place. This journey shows why.
