Tarangire is where most guests first understand the scale of what they came to see. The elephant concentrations here are among the highest anywhere in Africa. Giant baobabs interrupt the flat savannah in ways that feel ancient.

The road from Karatu climbs through the Ngorongoro highlands before dropping to the Serengeti plain. The vegetation thins, the sky opens. Wildlife appears before you have even entered the park.

A day given entirely to the Serengeti. Before first light, before the heat, before the decisions. You leave camp when the lions are still active and return when the plains go orange.

A third Serengeti day is where the circuit deepens. You know the landscape by now. The guide reads the afternoon light differently. Something is always happening somewhere beyond the next kopje.

Open savannah gives way to cool forested highlands as you move east. The highland lodges are built for this elevation. The view into the caldera from the terrace is one of those things guests sit with for a long time without speaking.

Descend at sunrise into 260 square kilometres of enclosed wildlife. Lions move freely with no need to hide. Elephants cross the open grassland between the forest and the soda lake. Africa's most concentrated wildlife environment in a single bowl.

The return drive passes through the Ngorongoro Conservation Area with one last look at the landscape. Arrival back in Arusha in time for afternoon departures from Kilimanjaro Airport.
