A closer connection to the landscapes, wildlife, and rhythm of the wilderness – on foot.
Walking safaris offer a completely different perspective. Accompanied by an armed ranger and your guide, you will walk slowly through areas where wildlife is sparse enough to allow safe exploration. The focus is on tracking, plants, insects, birds, and the smaller details that are missed from a vehicle. It is a sensory experience – the smell of the earth, the sound of birds, the texture of animal tracks. Walks typically last 2‑3 hours and are offered in designated areas of Tarangire, Serengeti, and private conservancies.
The pace is deliberate. The ranger points out tracks: a hyena that passed through hours ago, the dung of an elephant, a leopard's claw marks on a tree. The guide stops to explain which plants are medicinal, which berries are edible. The silence of the bush is punctuated by bird calls and the occasional alarm cry of a distant monkey. It is not about covering distance. It is about noticing.
Walking conditions are best when grass is shorter and visibility is clearer. Green season walks are possible but trails may be wetter.
